Endharo Mahanubhavalu... The words wait to tumble out of Kadri Gopalnath's sax as he plays this simply divine poem of Shri Tyagaraja. The poem describes the greatness of true devotees. He goes on to describe in minute detail the mighty gait of Lord Rama as he walks towards his ardent devotees. One but can’t help think to oneself about the greatness of the poet and his poem. Not to forget the devotion with which the song was being rendered in Kadri's Sax. I lost myself in music while i tried to read about US economy.
I told myself that US economy can wait while i proceeded to complete reading about this wonderful song.
Shri Tyagaraja describes a devotee to be someone who loses himself not just to the almighty, but also to the mankind around him. He works hard to help others. He considers it his responsibility to help another man in need! How true…
Made me ponder, if one were to look at Indians living in the US..... Aren’t they being true devotees? Indians are slowly but surely doing their bit in helping the US tide over the crisis that the world's largest nation faces. Indians would probably buy up all the sub prime homes, work at least 18 hours a day and pay for them. Indians will do their bit in improving savings rate in the Unites States. And true to the entrepreneurial blood which flows in the Indian veins, they will also start companies to provide for themselves and others.
The Veda proclaims that it’s a sin when payment for borrowed money is defaulted. The Holy book of Muslims - Koran says it’s equallent of not feeding ones' parents for an eternity if money borrowed is not repayed.
The classic Indian devotee has been imbibed with such values right from the age he/she starts to walk. With people like this - Sub primes and faulty loans will be a thing of the past! But will Obama's rhetoric on saving American jobs by cutting on offshoring - it remains to be seen what happens to the Indian diaspora in the US!
